António Jara
Saxophonist and Music Teacher

A Brief Introduction
António Jara was born in Lisbon, Portugal. From a tender age he showed affinity for the arts, leading him to pursue his dream to become a professional musician.
Thus, at the age of 16, António felt that he needed to contribute to the art world and picked up the saxophone.

Academic Background
After some background in classical music, António enrolled at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa in 2013 at 19 years of age, studying the jazz programme, where he studied under Jorge Reis,Pedro Moreira and Lars Arens.

In Portugal, António played in various settings such as duo with guitar, trios, quartets, quintets and big bands.During the time in Portugal, António also played and recorded different kinds of music, from pop, jazz, funk and bossa nova to blues.
More recently
In 2018, António decided to move to the Netherlands for a new adventure.

There, he enrolled in the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag (Royal Conservatoire of The Hague) studying jazz saxophone with Teachers John Ruocco, Rolf Delfos and Toon Roos.

In the Netherlands, António also had the opportunity of having lessons with world-renowned saxophone player Chris Cheek.

This is where he is finishing his studies, at this time.
